Usage Guide

Placeholder text is a design-workflow consumable: prototypes need filler, tables need rows, layouts need long-form. This tool generates Latin Lorem Ipsum or Chinese classical-style filler by paragraphs, sentences or words — with classic openings and optional HTML <p> wrap — entirely locally.

1. Generate filler text

  1. Pick the unit (paragraphs/sentences/words) and count.
  2. Choose a wordlist: Latin for classic typography, or Chinese to exercise CJK wrapping and line height.
  3. Optionally enable classic opening and HTML <p> wrap — the latter is handy for static pages and email templates.
  4. Generate, then copy or download (HTML mode saves as .html).

2. Why Lorem Ipsum instead of mashing keys

Lorem Ipsum is the printing industry standard dummy text since the 16th century: word-length distribution close to real Latin with zero semantic noise — readers do not stop to read it, so layout issues (line height, column width, contrast) stand out. Random keystrokes lack natural word rhythm. The Chinese wordlist uses Thousand Character Classic–derived fragments for the same reason: no readable narrative, just realistic CJK rhythm.

3. When HTML paragraph mode helps

  • Pasting into HTML prototypes or rich-text editors, <p> tags approximate real DOM spacing better than bare newlines.
  • Paragraph mode wraps each paragraph; sentence mode wraps each sentence; word mode wraps the whole run in one <p>.
  • Turn it off for plain text — Copy always copies exactly what the output panel shows.

4. What filler cannot test

  • Real content brings long words, long URLs and unbreakable strings that break layouts — stress-test with extreme samples (see the mock-data-generator) before shipping.
  • RTL scripts and space-less languages (e.g. Thai) are outside these wordlists; international products should verify with real-language samples.

FAQ

Paragraphs, sentences, or words, with a Latin or Chinese wordlist, an optional classic opening, and HTML <p> wrapping — handy for mockups, prototypes, and test data.

Optionally. Classic mode opens the first paragraph with "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet"; random mode skips the tradition. Classic is the safer pick when a mockup should look conventionally typeset.

Chinese and Latin text differ in character width and line-break behavior. For validating a Chinese interface, the classical-style Chinese wordlist mirrors real CJK density and wrapping far better; keep Latin Lorem for English-facing layouts. After pasting into the design, check line breaks and overall length first.

No. It exists for prototypes and layout checks, not as final copy — replace it with real content before launch so none of it leaks into production.

Neither. Generation runs locally in your browser, with no upload requests and no usage caps.
